Through a poetic composition of physical movement and handcrafted masks, the piece questions what lies beyond the threshold where identities dissolve and reform. The masks operate as vital engines of embodiment, generating physical scores and relational tension among a surreal cast of archetypes suspended between worlds—a monk striving to preserve order, a mischievous bird, a dysfunctional robot, and a luck-driven fisherman.
On the Edge mirrors the fragile cycle of human attachment: we are born in the water, we navigate the edges of various intersecting realities, and in the end, we drift away toward the other side of the river, unable to take anything with us. Everything remains exactly where it always was—on the edge.

Devised within the natural landscapes of Chiang Mai by a seven-woman ensemble, On the Edge is a contemporary physical theatre piece that investigates the liminal spaces between attachment and release, order and chaos. The work serves as a cross-cultural and cross-species inquiry into the human condition, examining where we stand on the precipice of current ecological and social structures.
The performance constructs a sweeping temporal scale that spans from the pre-human—the mother’s womb and the primordial ocean—through realms of myth, modern society, and fable. The lived experiences, real pain, and awakenings of ourselves form the core of this progression. Drawing upon both sociological observation and physical exploration, our female body becomes the primary site of the work, utilized to probe, resist, and reflect upon these overarching boundaries.
